For this Sci-Friday, take a step into the surreal, hilarious world of StrangeVehicles, a multi-year scifi project by Trevor Roberts I can only describe as: “What if the Sarlacc Pit was a national park?” This 16-minute overview of the Mystery Flesh Pit National Park is a walking tour through brilliant scifi, and fully-immersive science fiction. Watch!
If the French can tell us about joie de vive, then scifi tells us about joie de bizarre. There’s a joy in weirdness, odd concepts, and funky fun that you only get from science fiction. Trevor Roberts understands all of this, and you can feel it in every inch of the superorganisms’ internal organs and the tourist complexes built inside.
Taking a deep dive through this project’s posts, you can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of joy and awe as a creative person. This level of detail and care only comes when you’re doing something you love and you’re doing it for real. Hats off to Roberts and his funky, funny take on a science fiction universe. Spend a few touring this fascinating and disturbing universe. Well done!
After you do that, please feel welcomed to dive down the rabbit hole of every other Sci-Friday I’ve published in the past couple years. Have a great weekend.
